Yes, we’re getting even more electronic! “Yet another blog?” you might exclaim, but of course we couldn’t stop ourselves from analysing the pros and cons of each approach (blogging vs. emailing), to which this won with huge margins! Nevertheless, though this is an experiment, but we certainly hope that this will keep us updating you more regularly, and you’ll have one central place to access previous updates… so it’s basically a win-win situation. =)
Hence, this is our first attempt to best engage with culture using this amazing medium. Of course, there are security concerns, but that will just mean that I will have to keep what I write on here suitable for the world to see (unless of course, if there’s the more private bits, I’ll be sure to stick to email). OK, moving onto personal updates…
Significant change has happened over the past month for mostly Paul (which in turn affects me too). Beyond just moving onto our 6th week of classes (WOW!), Paul’s changing his 9-5pm job and will be working soon for a company called ReachLocal. He has also just started a new one as English Ministry Pastor for Hebron Presbyterian Church, Downtown LA, which has made it essential for us to get a car (used). We’re totally stoked that God’s opened all these amazing doors, and we’re excited about the prospects of walking with this young congregation, because we know that God’s going to do some amazing things as He loves them so much!
This is also the time of the school quarter that will prove to be a trying time for me considering it’s the last month of classes with increasing submissions to be delivered. I can’t believe how crazy it’s already starting to look, and am trying my best to prepare as best as I can to not be caught doing some all-nighters. I’m also just about 6 weeks into my new role as the Student Group Representative for the All-Seminary Council (Fuller Student Government Body). It’s been different for me to finally get back in having other students as my colleagues, so it really does make me feel younger again in some refreshing way.
I’ll continue to send some more updates in the future about what’s going on with us, but as for now, please pray with us that God will continue to show us favor in the following:
1. To be blessed with spiritual wisdom and guidance in serving His body at Hebron Church and Fuller. Pray also for the unity and healthy growth of these two bodies as both are undergoing times of transition.
2. Smooth and enjoyable transition for Paul in his new role at ReachLocal.
3. His presence to lead us as we organize for the wedding next April.
4. The ability to manage our schedules well considering our heavy responsibilities.
5. For those affected by the CA fires. Pray that Christians will continue to be supported by the body, and that non-Christians will come to know the saving grace of Jesus.
Finally, to God be the glory for the things He hath done!
Always love hearing from you all, so please drop a comment and/or prayer!
Love and Peace ,
Joy
p.s. Let me know too if you like this new shorter blog format better than previous emailed updates…
